For a brief period in the seventies I was a batik and tie dye artist, but my first love has always been black and white photography. After I set up my darkroom I started playing around with alternative process with my prints, photo oils, pencils and acrylics. A fellow artist mentioned that he experimented with food color on his prints in college. I remembered I had some Procion dyes! I decided to set up some dye baths and see how photographic paper took the dye. I was amazed at the saturation and vibrant color. After a lot of experimentation I was finally able to add yet another dimension to my photographs and photograms, and have a lot of fun at the same time. I've also transferred my images onto garments using Dharma's Ink Jet Printer Paper……the results were great!
