Hello, my name is Kay Shaffer. I am a self taught textile artist and I use your products exclusively in my batik work. I use the premade batik/paraffin wax and your waxing tools. I like the procion dye products and mercerized cotton broadcloth for the best colors. I have had the best results with this combination for durability also as the pieces are stretched over canvas and framed.

Batik is a very unique artform in that the design is created in the fabric. I try to infuse the crackling and veining as part of the design so that the batik becomes the art, not just the medium. It is an exciting challenge to try to achieve vibrant color, beautiful composition and depth in a humble piece of cloth. Great textiles and dyes make all the difference. The anticipation of seeing the design emerge after removing the wax is always a thrill. I also create hand weavings and fabric weavings as well as incorporating hand sewn beadwork in some pieces.
