I was first introduced to the art of silk painting over fifteen years ago as a professional textile designer, and I absolutely loved the medium. I now do my own silk paintings, which have been exhibited in many galleries, museums and shows. My work is also in the book " The Best of Silk Painting " by Tuckman and Janas. I also paint scarves, sarongs and ties.
I teach silk painting at the Long Island Art League in Huntington NY and I always recommend Dharma Trading to my students as a great place to buy supplies. I prefer to use tinfix, jacquard or dupont steam set dyes. Color is an important part of my work, so the strong intensity of the dyes is a great asset. I love the pebeo water based gutta pens they are so easy to use. I also use many of your gutta products.
My silk painting "Table set for one " won honorable mention at the Hecksher Museum in Huntington. The New York Times said "Among the notable two- dimensional works are Vivien Pollack's "Table set for one " in which everything is slightly askew without being awkward or clumsy ". I also will be having a solo show of my work in December 2007 at the Alfred Van Loen Gallery at the South Huntington Library.
