My name is Mary Kay Duran and I love your products. My story began a little over 18 months ago with a need to come up with a color of fabric I couldn't find in stores, I needed for a special tribute quilt I was making for my mother.
So I did some research on the internet and all the new dyes were so new to me I stuck by my old tried and true dye "RIT". I dyed the project just fine and I love the outcome but when I went to sell the left overs in my store on eBay they went crazy for it.
See I was new to the whole internet store thing so I was excited to see an addition to my store was doing so well. After limited success with the rit dye I soon found it costly and hard to find the liquid. So again I return to the internet to do some more research on dye colors and your name came popping up. So I figured I would go & see what Dharma was all about.
After finding all the information I needed on colors, a light bulb went off in my head and said I needed to try this new to me dye called procion mx, looks easy enough.
So again I turn to Dharma read the step by step instructions and the book of Ann Johnstons. I set out on another journey into the world wide web to track down some really cheap dyes. Again Dharmas name kept coming up in the searches. But my first budget was very tiny $20 to be exact and I knew I could never afford anything from you yet and have to pay for shipping, but actually set it up as a goal with my mouth watering to actually be lucky enough to afford procion dyed for Dharma! So until that day, which I thought took forever I would buy the over priced Jacuard dyes from my local art supply store in .25 OZ. bottles (YIKES)
So I did a search at my online quilt guild and was lucky enough to find someone who was no longer interested in LWI was willing to sell me her dye for $20 plus the price of shipping. It ended up to be over $280 worth of 8 ounce jars. I WAS EXCITED!
That batch of dye was enough to get me through my first several months of business and enough time to built up a little cash for my first purchase from you as a company. Man did I go crazy. Although most of the dyes I bought were the smaller jars, I now have graduated to my very own 8 ounce jars with dreams of being able to buy pounds at a time.
All my work comes from my heart and this poem I wrote that greets my customers on almost every page and ad I write sums up my art.
Ode to the Hand Dyed Fabric Stash
Through this passage you will find one-of-a-kind treasures from a FAR OUT mind.
For quilter’s and crafters and art lovers abound. This fabric is the really the best hand dyed in town.
Add depth; add color and some personality too with hand dyed fabric creations from my heart to you.
I swear on my honor and cross my heart this hand dyed fabric is really quite smart.
With jaw dropping beauty no picture can tell. Once you get it home your heart will swell.
Alas my friend if I were you I’d place that bid on this fabric for you. For once it is gone it can never be again.
So bid high my friend, bid high!
I have Since stop making quilts and have devoted my entire time to adding color to other peoples projects and lives. Some of my work hangs as photo back drops, some is used as art work and hangs in a gallery in NM. I just love what I do and thank you for providing me with a cost effective and quality product I can count on every time to give me the color results I need.
Thank You Dharma! Although it was quite hard to limit my photos to six, I think I have represented my work well with these. I have over 300 works of art I have sold & photographed thanks to you.
