I am Mari Gyorgyey and am a self taught silk artist. My BFA is from Rhode Island School of Design and my MFA from the University of Pennsylvania. I have exhibited my silks in Europe and the United States.
I have taught all levels of silk painting, and other art techniques for twelve years mostly in the Fairfield County, Connecticut area.
My silk paintings integrate my fine art, and textile design background. I have always used Dharma products: the tools, Tinfix Dyes and. all the materials for my silk painting classes.
I have spent a decade making scarves, pillows and other decorative items in silk. Now I paint large silk paintings, ,laying down different levels of dye washes to create depth . Occasionally I will use acrylic paint on the silk to 'bring a point home.'
