Discovering watercolor techniques on silk played a big part in my decision to open Silk Creek Studio last year. I love how every silk painting dries differently than expected; my workday is always full of surprises. Inspiration comes from all around me –Alaska, traveling, and family. I use Jacquard Red Label on Crepe De Chine scarves from Dharma Trading Co. Some of the example pictures were Green Label dyes. The finished painting is steamed in a homemade steamer for two hours to set the dye and enhance the colors.
