I became a Silk Artist 1998, and it has become my passion to share it. For me Silk is magical and meditative. It’s luxury and luster make any artistic piece glow from within. Before teaching silk in 2006, I was an instructor of miniature oils and other media. I have exhibited and sold works at the Talmadge Art Show in San Diego and in local boutiques. I am the Co-founder of the Silk Artists Guild of San Diego, and a member of Silk Painters International. I continue to hone my skills by taking classes in silk and other media from such notable studios as the Museum of Art in Houston Texas, the Athenaeum in La Jolla and from other silk artists around the country.
My goal is to share this wonderful media with other artists and to create enough interest to start a Silk Painters Chapter here in Houston. I use a variety of dyes and paints from Dharma such as Jacquard Silk Dye, Dyn-A-Flow Silk Paint, Jacquard Lumiere paints, Dupont Silk Dye, Pebeo and TinFix Design, and a variety of water based guttas. I also love the ease of the Inkjet Silk Print papers. Dharma Trading Company is and has been my partner for supplies during this lifetime adventure because of the quality, consistency and reliability of products they carry. I also love the catelogue and on-line instructions and tips.
