My name is Pam Oswald,
I live in a suburb of St. Paul, MN. I have a husband and 4 children, as well as 3 dogs. Life is always busy here. My passion for dyeing goes back a good 25 years, to my first attempt on a pair of stirrup pants with Rit dye, and some rubber bands. I have always dabbled and played with dyes but didn't get really serious until I found the internet, and Dharma. I am inspired by my children, nature, and favorite fabrics. I often pull my colorways from my immediate environment. Every time I dye a piece, it's like unwrapping a gift when I rinse and get my first glimpse of how things came out.
About a year ago I decided to try marble dyeing with shaving cream, after reading The Dharma tutorial. From my first piece of fabric I loved it! I had so many people asking how I do it, I created a picture tutorial of the dharma instructions. My favorite fabric to dye is bamboo, I love how it takes the dye. I use the fabric I dye with this method to make plush toys, infant clothing, and wash cloths.
I use the procion dyes, Dharma's alternative to Synthropol, squirt bottles, fabrics, soda ash and blanks. Thank you Dharma for providing me wonderful products, with which to practice my craft.
