"I grew up in Marin County, California, and have been living on the Mendocino Coast for the last three years. I have had my own textile business for 15 years. I have a "rep" who sells my kimonos around the country to most of the top wearable art/craft shops. I am also, an artist, painting oils and watercolors of flowers and landscapes. My paintings are sold exclusively through 'Connexions Gallery' in Sausalito, California. I have a web site for my paintings at http://www.janetjoslin.com
"I consider myself a creative person in everything I do in life, and love to try new ways of expressing myself.
"Working with silk fabric is wonderful because of the depth of color and light that can be achieved. There is always a new way to work with dyes to get different results. Right now I am creating some new kimonos, combining shibori techniques that I already use, piecing them together along with solid color. All my pieces are 'one of a kind' and sell retail from $395 to $1000.
"I have always purchased my dyes from Dharma Trading Co. I started out using the French Dupont Dyes, but as my business grew, I switched to Procion H Dyes, mixing my own colors. I found this to be more cost effective."
