Citric Acid is a weak organic acid found in citrus fruits. In the fiber art world, it is used as an alternative to vinegar or acetic acid 56% when dyeing protein fibers such as silk or wool. It can be used both with Acid Dyes and Fiber Reactive Dyes on protein fibers. The big advantage - economical and has NO ODOR! Use 1 TBS to one pound dry fiber for immersion dyeing. Use 4 tsp. per quart (32 oz.) as a pre-soak for direct application of either Fiber Reactive or Acid Dyes, when steaming or microwaving to set. There are roughly 3 cups in a 1lb bag.
