Clearance Disclaimer

Our handspun llama comes from a collective in Bolivia, helping the members to earn a living in a sustainable and culturally cohesive manner. Each skein might be spun by a different collective member, from more than one animal's fiber, so there can be a great variation in color and yarn thickness (see photos above) as well as possibly containing bits of vegetable matter. We like this! it's part of the charm. Generally there is approximately 175 yards per ball, but this varies quite a bit. Hats are our favorite thing to knit with this special yarn. It's textured, soft but still very rustic. The natural undyed color varies from light cocoa to deep chocolate.

This is such an interesting textural yarn. I don't know what I will use it for but it has a unique quality and interesting color.

I am giving this yarn a "4" because it is SO full of chaff and has some of the guard hairs left in it which makes llama yarn scratchy...be forewarned! I started making a hat of it but later stopped as I couldn't stand the thought of having it on my head. It IS really fun funky yarn with gradual color shifts in it...so I'll come up with another idea for it!

As another review started includes vegetable matter in moderate to high quantities. I used some to weave a bath mat. I used cotton for the warp llama for the weft. It turned out great! However it's not machine washable - it shrank. If I could get around that I love the bloom that happened. Wonderfully soft on your toes as you get out of the tub!!!! And actually absorbent unlike most commercially available mats.So what have I done with the rest? I teach spinning with it. It's like super thin sliver so it has a partially spun predrafted feel. Fantastic for demonstrating spinning and giving people actual hands on with a spindle. If life gives you lemons make lemonade!Would I buy more? Yes but I think the white is more versatile. Teach them to spin then dye then crochet knit or weave!
