Artist Bio / Statement
Hello,
I was born in Czech Republic, and now I live in Lindsay, Ontario, where I am working from my studio. My silk paintings are inspired by the beautiful nature of Kawartha Lakes and from my travels to Europe. I love fashion, and I hold a Degree in Fashion Design from Ryerson University in Toronto, where I received a number of awards for my design work. I am a member of the Guild of Silk Painters in the UK. I exhibited my work at the Women’s Art Festival in Kingston, Ontario, the Cedar Ridge Gallery and the Gallery 401 in Toronto, the Lindsay Gallery, the Cobourg Waterfront Art Festival, Buckhorn Fine Art, Fenelon Falls Art Festival and the Common Thread Exhibition in Oakville, Ontario.
For my painting, I use most of my time with Pebeo Setasilk silk paints, Setacolor opaque and Setacolor transparent. The outlines are done with Pebeo water-based guttas. I am experimenting with all kinds of silk fabric. My favorite is silk charmeuse. It is not easy to paint on because of its heavy weight, but the end result is stunning. It adds luster to the painting and it looks like the light is coming from within the picture.
I just to want to say thank you to Dharma for its excellent customer service whenever I am ordering some stuff from you. I am a textile artist, and I love to paint on silk and frame my paintings. I am usually painting on silk charmeuse. It is not easy, as the fabric is heavy, but these paintings have an amazing luster when finished. I am using Pebeo resist outliners -- I like gold and pearl white, which I tint to any color. For my painting, I am using Setasilk, Setacolor Transparent and Opaque paints. Subjects of my paintings are flowers, insects, and vegetables. I like to paint big. I am sending you a few samples of my work. Thanks again.
