Artist Bio / Statement
My name is Michele Lasker. I am a contemporary artist working with fiber art. I am particularly interested in patterns in nature and shades of color. Taking those patterns and seeing how they are used in architecture and object design I am constantly studying color, design, and texture. Working with hand-dyed fibers I enjoy seeing how light plays off of these surfaces. Nuances of color in my work are being enhanced with hand embroidery and beading; overlaid with manipulated fibers for dimension, and complemented with resist techniques and mixed media including freeform knitting and crochet.
In my artwork I enjoy using Jacquard Products such as: Dye-Na-Flow and Lumiere Fabric Paint, giving new intensity to fabric, and I also use soy wax batik to add depth and pattern to cotton and silk fabrics. I like to use the Silky Cotton Voile because it dyes and prints so well.
Thank you Dharma for your wonderful products!
