Hello, my name is Christin Johnson. I am so grateful that you selected me as a featured artist one year ago. Since then, Dharma Trading has helped me progress in my silk painting. Your products have allowed me to explore new techniques and achieve new things! I would be honored if, one year later, you selected me as a featured artist again.

I am an English teacher in Avondale, Arizona. I dye silk scarves, handkerchiefs, bandanas, chemo hair scarves, pocket squares, and other silk items, both custom or original. I am inspired by nature, world cultures, literature, and anything vibrant or quirky that I see around me. I paint and create as a form of meditation, unwinding after a long day of classes. Summertime offers me a great amount of time to replenish my stores and realize some designs I've been considering during the busier parts of the school year.

I use several Dharma Products all of the time:
-Jacquard Silk Green Label dyes
-various silk products from your website, in habotai, silk satin, chiffon, and charmeuse, mainly
-Chinese silk suspension hooks
-Mixed bag of rubber bands
-Bamboo brushes
-Eye droppers
-Blank newsprint

I steam fix all my pieces using a tamale pot and pie plate.

I love the magic of watching hard work and planning come together in a beautiful finished product. I love conversing with my customers, discussing their ideas and planning the perfect items for them, or for their loved ones. I love looking at a piece, even before it steams, and just feeling that it's right, and will turn out well. Art is so vibrant and alive, and I love being a part of it!
