Circumference = 24 1/4"
Brim = 5"

Folds down to 6" diameter!

And now, for a really great idea!

Take it out of it's pouch and 'Pop', it springs open into a 18" sun hat. Then with a simple twist it becomes a 6" disk that goes back into its matching pouch. The bag and hat are 100% cotton so they can be painted, printed & marbled. Made in China.

These come only in WHITE!
Also available in silk.

Imagine the possibilities:
  • For promotions
  • For taking on vacations
  • For keeping in your purse
  • Leave one in the car
  • For sale at outdoor concerts, sports events, beaches, wherever there's sun!

Please note:
Collapsible rim is made of metal. Metal can rust if exposed to water for too long. Salt (as in dyebaths) can make it much worse, as can acids or alkali - like Soda Ash that is used with Dharma's fiber reactive Procion Dye, what you would normally use with cotton. Safer to paint these with thin flowable paints like Setasilk or Dynaflow, which you iron to set. These paints are so thin, you can barely tell them from dye. They are such popular hats, they are worth the effort!

The brim is just to large to be practical or attractive. It looks like a Halloween witch's hat without the pointed top. I do like the folding part and the case.

I haven't had a chance to paint this yet but it's really fun and pretty easy to fold and unfold. Plenty of brim to keep the sun off!

Nice hat - a little hard to keep its shape during dyeing though.

I was disappointed in this product. I had several rust stains appear around the rim of the hat.

Fun idea but very hard to dye, actually hard to rinse the dye out after dying. Customers do love the unique hat though.

The hat itself is great! The only problem is the brim seems to have a metal wire and not plastic. I dyed a couple of the hats and the metal wire left really big stains that can't be washed out. If there was a plastic wire, this would not happen. Otherwise, its wonderful.

The metal band does rust when tie dyeing so I gave this a 4. The hats deserve a 5 with platic instead of wire used or a coating on the wire to stop the rusting. You can always add cord to trim over the rust on the edge. As far as dying do it in the case works great. Try to keep the water time down. Soak, dye and Pop as soon as possible to let the dye finish setting this helps the rust. Can't keep these in stock thanks Dharma for a great item.

Love these hats, but when ordering lots (60-100) I always have a couple that have bad stitching or broken wire rim.

Loved the idea and the convenience. But it made me look like a mounty witch from the lollipop land :) I tie dyed the case it came with and i LOVE that and use it all the time! ;)

These hats give great coverage and aren't hard to collapse once you get the trick. (My daughter has been doing it since she was about seven.) They're also incredibly easy to tuck away in your bag, so you won't get caught in the sun without one, and the chin strap keeps them in place under windy conditions. The metal rim can indeed rust and in fact I just unearthed some I had stored in a plastic bin for a couple of years and saw spots of rust along the rim. However, we just dyed them with dark colors and/or reddish colors and it wasn't really noticeable. After the soda ash soak, we opened them up and squirted them with blobs, lines, and dots of dye—no tying needed. I suggest you leave them unfolded during the 24 hour dye-setting period and wash/rinse them in a bathtub. Fight the temptation to zip them into their cases and throw them in the washing machine. I lost my first one that way. Oh, and the fabric does shrink a bit, which can sometimes deform the flat circular rim into something resembling a Pringles potato crisp. When I see that happening, I stretch the fabric while it's still wet to return it to flat. We do have one hat that stayed somewhat deformed, but it still looked cute and folded up fine.

I could not figure out a good way to dye these. And once I flipped them open, I could not figure out how to put them back in the little package it came in with the memory wire around the rim. Makes a nice ornament for my garage though.

Despite the disclaimer, there is now way to dye such a thing without sig. exposure to water, which causes the metal strip in its brim to rust. I could have lived with that, however, but during the prewash the fabric shrank so much that the brim is seriously distorted no matter what I do. A waste of time and money.
