Product Description

An elegant, sheer and more loosely woven fiber with a soft beautiful drape and a crepe like texture. 100% silk chiffon, they float like a feather on a summer breeze! These are probably the next most popular fabric to Habotai to make scarves from. Economical as well as beautiful! Very easy to dye and paint and responds well to all painting styles and techniques. These have hand rolled hems with 100% silk thread.

We recommend, especially if you are re-selling, to pre-wash in Hot water and Synthrapol or our Professional Textile Detergent, all silk before dyeing or painting to remove any leftover residue from the silk worms (Seracin) or finger prints and other stuff that can cause the fabric to dye unevenly. Our product Milsoft is excellent for restoring the soft hand to silk after dyeing.

NOTE: Chiffon shrinks a lot because of loose weave, much more in length- drying scarves while stretched helps reduce shrinkage

Made in: CHINA (CN)

These are great for nuno felting with a class, no need to cut or sew anything and you don't have to spend hours rolling your felt around!

The quaility of the hand rolled edges is widely variable. Some are fine, and other are not acceptable. One of my customers actually commented on them. In the future I will look at them more closely upon arrival incase I need to send them back. I advise you to do the same to avoid dissappointment.

I'm surprised chiffon turned out to be my favorite. Light, inexpensive, and holds dye in a delicate way. (OK - Charmeuse is my favorite, but chiffon holds color with far more intensity than I thought it would.)

a little slubbier feel than the Habotai, but quite lovely.

Like all the chiffon scarves, these take dye beautifully, but be aware that once this size shrinks (as chiffon does), it's REALLY small. I'm hoping to sell them as kids' scarves.

Used this fabric to make Nuno felted scarves. It worked great. It is a good weight and weave for Nuno felting.

Someone above commented on the hemming. It is a problem that it is so uneven. Some are very well hand rolled and some are poorly done with hanging threads, and some even have defects in the silk itself.

I still like the shawls, and will try to check the shawls in my next shipping, when I receive them.

Just what I wanted, will be dyeing this scarf in the near future, just haven't decided which method I'll use.

This silk chiffon is more of a loose weave than I expected & does not have a silk-like feel after dyeing.

Inconsistent stitching on the rolled hems - some of the scarves were badly hemmed while others were fine.
