Product Description
Very popular fabric for scarves, like a cross between Habotai and Crepe de Chine. The weave is a type of Crepe weave that is flatter on the surface, making it smoother for painting than Crepe, shinier than Habotai, but not as shiny as Satin. These are the lightest weight of our silks that have a beautiful sheen, so economical, and great for summer wear. These have hand rolled hems with 100% silk thread. Ready to dye and paint!

We recommend, especially if you are re-selling, to pre-wash in Hot water and Synthrapol or our Professional Textile Detergent, all silk before dyeing or painting to remove any leftover residue from the silk worms (Seracin) or finger prints and other stuff that can cause the fabric to dye unevenly. Our product Milsoft is excellent for restoring the soft hand to silk after dyeing.

My favorite to paint on. The hand and drape are softer then a hobatai silk. The dyes dry fast, the resists soak through the silk and holds the dye in place, giving the image a crisp, defined appearance.

Great sheen and even texture. The hems are even and the scarf shrinkage after washing seems predictable. The FC holds up to shibori, and has survived hotter washes and rougher handling than recommended. I have had no trouble with any silk gum in these.

Good quality, and easy to gutta and to paint on. No prewash necessary. And the shine after being dyed is much more beautiful than the habotai scarves I also use.

I noticed some of the stitching in the hem is not as fine as it used to be.
I have been painting silk scarves as a hobby for years, using your scarf blanks and Dye Na Flo dyes. I love doing this work.

I love the look of these, but have to really watch that I completely dissolve fabric softener (if I use). The shine of this silk really shows all details.

The hand hemming is not what I hoped for. I prefer the machine hem. The feel is a little wispier than I anticipated. It also appeared to take the dyes differently.
