Style 3: Small Shell Crochet Dress
Hand crochet top yoke with small shell shaped design has slightly extended cap sleeves. Crochet string tie at waistline has small wooden beads at tips that are tied off. Natural cotton muslin skirt, with additional crochet inset at hem, is gathered into the waist. Turned fabric hem edge at skirt bottom. Back opening has 2 wooden button closure.
This is mostly a triple crochet pattern that is very challenging to make! Great workmanship! Neck and sleeves are embellished with a small crochet scalloped edge.
Warm natural colored beige cotton crochet yarn and muslin skirt takes Procion Fiber Reactive Dye beautifully in solid colors. Keep in mind that dyes are transparent. The natural coloring of this dress will combine with whatever color you dye it. So if you dye it a light shade of blue, the finished color result will appear as a greenish (teal blue) tint t.
This beautifully made dress looks fantastic undyed, too!

My favorite item. We love the natural look so I won't be dyeing it. The beads did fall off after one washing, so I re-threaded with bigger wooden beads - 3 on each side. I also took brown ribbon and wove it along the crocheted hemline (bottom of dress). It really makes it look like a $30 piece of clothing!

This dress is well made, true to size, and dyed up beautifully! The only thing I don't like is the drawstring and wooden beads. They look sweet, but they're a choking hazard for a small child. I remove them from the size 2 dress.
