Product Description
These are a medium weight silk with a great drape and flow. Silky with an extremely smooth shiny top surface, this is what many people think of when they think "silk". Nice when you want something more luxurious and less sheer, but still economical. The lustrous satin surface is wonderful for painting! These have hand rolled hems with 100% silk thread. Ready to dye and paint!

 

We recommend, especially if you are re-selling, to pre-wash in Hot water and Synthrapol or our Professional Textile Detergent, all silk before dyeing or painting to remove any leftover residue from the silk worms (Seracin) or finger prints and other stuff that can cause the fabric to dye unevenly. Our product Milsoft is excellent for restoring the soft hand to silk after dyeing.

Beautiful...but several of our scarves after dying into rich colors were obviously rolled stitched with polyester thread as thread did not over dye leaving white dots down some edges. I have worked many years in garment dye and poly thread was nearly always the culprit.

Luxurious satin scarves that dye beautifully. About 1 in 10 have flaws. Some have silk gum. If a drop of water takes more than 10 seconds to soak in, either use French silk dyes, which have alcohol in them, or add some Calsolene oil or Synthrapol to your dyes.

Silk satin is the best. I'd love to see these a little longer so they fit around middle aged necks too. How about a 6x30? And while I'm at it, how about an 8x72 silk satin scarf?
