Roving

#ROVE-s: Silk - The silk is bleached which makes it a more uniform creamy white instead of the natural honey brown color. Dyes up great with our Acid Dyes for wool and silk, also the iDye for natural fibers. Or paint and steam to get color variation with any of our silk dyes.

#ROVE-w: Wool - The wool is fine and soft, average 25 micron count, and is US grown, which supports our farmers. Combing removes the short fibers, so you are left with smooth uniform long fibers.

#ROVE-1: 50/50 angora lambs wool - This is a very soft blend, ideal for spinning and it felts very easily. A very well combed mix, the fine merino lambswool blends well with the fine angora.

#ROVE-2: Angora Top - Combed fine top, length of staple is 3.5". A wonderful top that is great for felting too.

#ROVE-3: Fine Baby Llama Top - This is a beautiful soft, young llama top.

#ROVE-4: Super Dehaired Baby Llama Top - A beautiful, creamy beige fiber. Super soft!

#ROVE-5: Cream Yak Top - Very soft, a lovely natural cream shade.

#ROVE-6: Medium Brown Alpaca Top - Our alpaca fibers are imported from Peru and are very fine, 21 micron fibers that are shiny and lovely to spin. This combed top is a warm brown color is fine and lustrous.

#ROVE-7: White Alpaca Super Top - A fine, 21 micron young adult alpaca top. A high quality prepared top which is a great alternative to locally grown fibers.

#ROVE-8: Black Alpaca Super Top - A very fine, beautiful fiber, also 21 micron and very soft. The color is a natural black.

#ROVE-9: Grey Alpaca Super Top - The same fine 21 micron fiber only in a wonderful silvery color.

#ROVE-10: Bamboo Wool Alpaca Top - A beautiful new blend of 49% Bamboo, 28% Wool and 23% Alpaca. Very soft!

#ROVE-11: Hemp Top - Hemp is a vegetable fiber, like flax, and is easy to grow, although for a long time it was not allowed to be grown in North America. Our hemp top is very fine, high quality fiber.

#ROVE-12: Soy Silk White Top - SOYSILK® brand fiber is made from the residue of soybeans from tofu manufacturing. This process is 100-percent natural and free of any petrochemicals, making it an extremely environmentally friendly product. Soy is a completely renewable resource - coming from the earth and being wholly biodegradable. As early as the 1940s, textile experts dreamed of a fiber made from soy. (In fact, Henry Ford had a suit made of soy as an early prototype.) SOYSILK® brand fiber offers superior moisture absorption and ventilation properties along with beautiful draping, softness and warmth.

#ROVE-13: Bamboo Top - BAMBOO fiber is made from the bamboo plant, a grass farmed commercially throughout Asia. Bamboo can grow 10 ft tall and a stand of bamboo plants can thrive for up to 100 years. BAMBOO fiber is cool to the skin, comfortable to wear ,and shows beautiful drape and softnes.

#ROVE-14: Black Diamond Top - Bamboo carbon fiber, called Black Gold or Black Diamond by those in the industry, is resistant to ultra violet rays and possesses anti-odor properties. It also adjusts well to both humidity and dryness. A rich grey, with a matte finish but a deep luster, this extremely fine fiber produces a stunning, unique and instantly recognizable yarn. A delight to spin, Black Diamond is one of the newest fibers on the handspinning market, sure to be a show-stopper and conversation piece. Very fine and soft with some elasticity, Black Diamond is an exciting fiber everyone wants to try.

#ROVE-15: BFL Silk Blend - 80% Blue Face Leicester and 20% Silk , this is a roving with the loft and softness of the BFL combined with the luster of silk. Spinning and Dyes wonderfully!

#ROVE-16: Cultivated Silk Top - ombyx silk, also known as mulberry silk or cultivated silk, is the world's finest silk, prized for its incredible luster, fineness and strength. Louet's bombyx silk top is a top-quality white combed preparation, ready to spin! Bombyx silk can be dyed with acid dyes including food coloring and drink mix, and also with fiber reactive dyes. A slippery fiber, bombyx silk can be tricky to spin, but yields beautiful results for all skill levels.

#ROVE-17: Cashmere Silk Top - It is truly a super fiber, very soft. The color is unique and the silk makes it a joy to spin.

#ROVE-18: Black Merino Top - A 22 micron combed top that is soft and easy to spin.

#ROVE-19: White Coopworth Roving - A creamy white fiber, easy to spin.

#ROVE-20: Fine White Shetland Top - This British combed top is super soft and easy to spin.

#ROVE-21: Fine Grey Shetland Top - This British combed top is super soft and easy to spin.

#ROVE-22: Wensleydale Top - A very long fiber combed into a shiny top. It is one of the British wool breeds.

#ROVE-23: Norweigen White Top - Combed top from Norwegian sheep. A very dark grey with a staple length of 6 inches. Good for rugged winter sweaters.

#ROVE-24: Corridale Top Natural - It is a great fiber for felting and spinning with a 28 micron count. Corriedale, a medium wool, is widely regarded as one of the best general-purpose wool fibers there is. Often chosen by spinning teachers as an introductory fiber, Corriedale drafts easily and can be spun for almost any purpose. Great for hats, mittens, sweaters, many people find it to be next-to-skin soft. The combed preparation of this fiber makes it ideal for spinning smooth, even yarns, but its versatile nature gives the spinner almost unlimited options. Corriedale top is also wonderful for felting, and is easy to dye with acid dyes (including food coloring and drink mix).

#ROVE-25: Finn Top - Our Finn top will remind you of a soft Merino, but it is easier to spin due to the staple length.

#ROVE-26: Lincoln Top - Our Lincoln is from England and is a very long staple length.

#ROVE-27: Falkland Top - Our Falkland top will remind you of a Corriedale.

#ROVE-28: Dark Brown Welsh Top - This English Welsh is very dark, and is comparable to our Coopworth fiber.

#ROVE-29: White Welsh Top - This English Welsh is very similar to the dark, and is comparable to our Coopworth fiber.

#ROVE-30: BFL White Top - This is a white top, that is very lustrous and soft. It is beautiful with a long 5 inch staple length, definitely worth trying! Blue Faced Leicester is a longer stapled wool (the individual fibers are longer) which is fine enough for next-to-skin wear and very hard to felt. It is considered very easy to spin, and is easy to dye with acid dyes (including food coloring and drink mix). It is extremely popular for fine to medium yarns for anything from lace to socks to light sweaters, and insulates and wears well enough for outerwear too. An excellent choice for early spinners and spinners progressing to more intermediate and advanced levels.

#ROVE-31: Dark BFL Top - The difference between the white and Dark Leicester is the color, but it almost feels softer still. The brownish color has the same attractive sheen as the white, very lustrous and soft.

#ROVE-32: White Masham Top - A coarse fiber with a longer staple length.

#ROVE-33: Grey Gotland Top - Similair to the grey Icelandic, beautiful grey shades of soft fiber.

#ROVE-34: Wool Mohair Blend Top - A beutiful blended top consistiing of 82% Wool and 18% Mohair.

#ROVE-35: White Tencel Top - TENCEL®, made from wood pulp cellulose, offers a unique combination of the most desirable properties of man made and natural fibers: soft as silk, strong as polyester, cool as linen, warm as wool and as absorbent as cotton. TENCEL® is a godsend for anyone with sensitive skin. The combination of a smooth fiber surface and excellent moisture absorption creates a positive environment for healthy skin, making TENCEL® ideal for anyone with sensitive skin. Also, TENCEL® is chemical free, an important factor for sensitive skin and another asset in comparison to other fibers of a natural origin.

#ROVE-36: Seacell Top - Aside from its organic qualities, this seaweed based fiber promotes healthy skin by allowing the minerals contained within SeaCell® to absorb into the skin when worn next to the skin.

#ROVE-37: Water Retted Flax Top - We stock Dew Retted Flax instead of Water retted flax because the Dew Retted Flax is more environmentally friendly. The quality is fairly coarse, long fibers but not too long. Spinning is easy with this combed top and can be used for a variety of projects.

#ROVE-38: 54's Australian Wool - 100% Combed Wool, 21 microns.

#ROVE-39: 62's Superwash Merino - 100% Combed Superwash Merino Wool, 62 microns.

#ROVE-40: 80's Superfine Merino - 100% Combed Superfine merino Wool, 80 microns.
