Used to prevent the wicking of the dye across the silk. Gives a more painterly effect with dye when you don't want to use Gutta or other resists to "fence" it in. Useful for design or caligraphy. Just brush it onto the fiber, either overall before painting or in a particular area you just want to accent with a brushstroke. It must be dry before the fabric can be painted. It can then be steamed and washed to remove the product and leaves the fabric soft.
