Product Description
Also known as Silk Noil. It is a slightly nubby fabric with random flecks in a natural, off-white color. It has a somewhat rough texture and gentle drape. It dyes well but is not well suited for gutta techniques since it is quite heavy and gutta does not penetrate well but could be applied on both sides of fabric.

Also available in BLACK

This stuff is a dream! Soft, breathable, dyes up beautifully -- plus, if it wrinkles, all you have to do is hang it in the bathroom while you shower and the wrinkles steam right out. I've used it for Ren Faire and other costuming projects, and it holds up quite well. The fabric does shed a little when washed the first few times, however, as bits of the nubby surface come off.

This stuff is wonderful for apparel-- breathable, cool in the heat, warm in the cold-- but wash it a few times before using and hang it outside because it STINKS initially!! Raw silk has a lot of seracin in it, and apparently, that smells like fish! I made the mistake of hanging it in my laundry room after washing and the whole house smells like fish. LOL, well, dye smells too so it's not like I was worried. Just be aware!

I thought the quality of the noil was not as good as that (I get from Thai Silks, but the newbies in the class liked it. For all I know it could be from the same wholesales origins.

Having the information about potential shrinkage was critical to my project. Thank you!

Not quite the same weight as noil yardage I have in my stash but still has a nice drape. This will be snow dyed (should western NY ever get snow this year, we're still looing at green grass)

Another perfect fabric, delivered on time and exactly what I wanted. I know most people that order from Dharma are interested in dyeing things themselves. I would actually pay someone to dye my silk for me using the right dye to make it the color of plum haze, which is the dye I bought and also love. I just don't love dyeing things.

I love the way this silk dyed in a parfait. This fabric drapes so beautifully.

very good material to work with...wish that you have more of a selection (variations)of this type of silk! I've worked with very fine raw silks before in the past with incredible results with more of a luster to it! However, i'm pleased with this one !

Wonderful weight, drape and texture. Takes Acid Dye colors beautifully. Easier to sew than other silks, and a boon to the historic costumer on a budget.
