Product Description

Sharpie Fine Point Markers have been around for decades.  They are the "original" permanent marker.  You have probably even used one at some point in your life.  Permanent on almost any porous surface, including fabric, leather, wood, paper, and more.  For heat setting the manufacture recommends placing the fabric in the dryer for about 15 minutes on high heat.  A great multi-purpose permanent marker. They used to come in Red and Black and Blue.  That was it.  Completely utilitarian. But now, with all the great colors, how could we resist?  We truly do want to be your "one stop shop" for all your fiber crafting needs (and then some!).

I was unaware that the ink needed to be heat-set prior to washing. There was nothing that indicated that.
So, I ruined a shirt and sweater.

markers worked well on card but bled a lot on the nylon prayer flags I bought them for. But loved the colours and will use them a lot on projects that are up-coming and more suitable.

I used black to make an outline on silk prior to dying. The dye held fast after heat setting, but the black sharpie marker left spots on the silk. The black spots eventually washed out with much sloshing, but the black outline had turned BLUE. Not a problem for me, because I will just re-trace it after the silk dries, but I thought others should be warned.

I didn't like these. They wrote great on my silks, but after drying they still washed out when dye set and washed.

Sharpies, a classic, however not my go-to for finely detailed (or washable) fabric art. Not as easy to write on stretch material as others and leave a bit to be desired after washing. Still good for touching up a very small spot or two though.
