Product Description

What's a Pareo? Not some brightly colored bird, at least not until you get it tie-dyed and on your body. It is a type of Sarong worn in Tahiti that is much more versatile than a rectangle of fabric. It can be a dress, a coverup or skirt, depending on how you tie it - rumor has it that the men even tie it into shorts. One of our customers enlightened us on how they do that - by tieing the 2 corners of the shorter ends around the waist with the knot in front, then pulling the long tail of the fabric up between the legs and tieing the other 2 shorter corners in a knot in the back. This will resemble harem pants. Then the men roll the waist several times to turn it into shorts! Limited only by your imagination!

These 100% rayon sarongs have shaped ties that follow your body curves when you tie it on, making it have a much more attractive fit than the usual rectangular shaped sarong. Rolled hems are stitched with cotton thread so they dye too. The smooth flat woven rayon is easy to tie-dye, paint, print or batik. Also known as pāreu, in Tahiti, these are practically the national uniform for men, women and children. A must for the beach at the very least!

That person shouldn't have given such a stingy review based on something they hadn't done yet! These not only feel great, they take the dye like a champ! Very fun style!

This fabric feels just like my high end egyptian cotton sheets. Drapes and flows beautifully. Couldn't give it a 5 because I haven't dyed it yet but so far I couldn't be happier with it.

Love this but wish it came with instructions on how to tie it.
