Wonderful kit! My only negative comment is that Ms. Johnson's book is not really easy to follow. I ended up going to the library and checking out some other books to use instead. I would recommend buying the kit without the book.

Great to get started with... my only issue here is that the person who wrote the book doesn't use much turquoise (she prefers a different blue) and turquoise is the blue sent with the set.

Good for starting... Now I just need to start. I have mixed thoughts about not having a choice as to the dye colors in the kit. Jean

Take the fear out of dying. If you are doing small projects, perhaps a couple of yards at one time, and are new to dying, this kit is for you.
You should buy a good set of gloves that are at least up to mid arm. If you follow the directions in Ann Johnston's book (and you should get the kit with the book if you have never done this before), you are on your way. I was so comfortable after the first yard that I started mixing colors, dying the fabric twice for different effects etc. One tip, if you have one of the new, low water front load washers, two caps of the detergent is just right. I rinsed my fabric in hot water until just about clear water remained then did the wash with the detergent. No problems! My first fabric was the mercerized combed cotton broadcloth. WOW! This was my first experience with dyeing fabric. I thoroughly enjoyed your products. I have since received silk dupioni, which has less texture than I expected but dyed well.
