First things first, for items shipped directly from our warehouse in sunny Petaluma, California:
Orders placed before 11am (PST) Monday - Friday are shipped the same day.
Orders placed after 11am (PST) Monday - Friday are shipped the next work day.
Orders placed on weekends are shipped Monday.
**Please keep in mind when choosing shipping options that only business days are counted, not holidays, weekends, or the first day processing your order. Example: an Economy 3 day air order placed on Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday morning before 11 am PST will be processed and ship Wednesday, so Thursday counts as day 1 when figuring the arrival date. (If you asked for Express next day overnight shipping, it would have gotten to you on Thursday.) With 3 day shipping, the order would arrive to you on the following Monday, because of the weekend (UPS doesn't move on weekends). If you really needed it on Friday for the weekend, you would need to ask for 2 day delivery, not 3 day. Phew, if you are confused about that or have a really important deadline, call us and we'll be glad to help you figure out the delivery date!

Rates don't include an insurance charge of .50¢ per $100 value of your order after the first $100 for UPS and FedEx. The US Postal Service insurance starts at $1.00 for the first $20.00 and increases by $1.00 per $100 thereafter.
If you choose to use the Postal Service and they lose, delay or misplace your package, there will be a 30 day delay before we can replace it while they track it. We prefer other carriers since we can easily locate, trace and resolve problems.
Drop-shipped items, items shipped direct from the manufacturer, may not be shipped as fast as our own lightning fast service. They may require an additional day or two to ship out, depending on the manufacturer.
Fine print / Dimensional weight: In general, shipping costs are based on the total weight of your order, i.e. lightweight stuff costs less than heavy stuff to ship. However, UPS, USPS and Fed-Ex sometimes charge Dimensional Weight for very large, very lightweight packages. This amounts to billing the shipping at what the weight of that large package 'should' be. So, the shipping we quote you is almost always, but sadly not always, the cost you will need to pay for shipping. Added charges by UPS, USPS or Fed-Ex for Dimensional Weight can increase shipping cost at the last minute. In these very infrequent cases we will contact you to sort it out before we ship.

Canadian Import Duties, Taxes and Brokerage Fees:
The customer is responsible for all Canadian import duties, taxes and brokerage fees (if any). These fees may be charged to you when your package reaches the Canadian border (these fees are not included in the shipping that we charge you). According to customer feedback, Canadian import duties & taxes seem to run about 7%-14%, but this can vary depending on the product's country of origin. Any items made in the USA will be so specified on your invoice for customs, and thanks to NAFTA these items should be taxed at a lower rate. Brokerage fees depend upon the shipping method (see below).
Priority & First Class Mail International: Especially good for lightweight orders and when time is not critical. According to customer feedback, Canadian import duties, taxes and a flat $5.00 Brokerage fee are rarely assessed to USPS packages. Priority provides tracking information for your shipment whereas First Class does not.
FedEx International Economy: Fast shipping. No brokerage fees, but duties & taxes are usually charged by Canadian Customs.
FedEx International Priority: Fastest shipping. No brokerage fees, but duties & taxes are usually charged by Canadian Customs.
Import Restrictions: No flammables can be shipped to Canada. This means no solvent-based gutta! Water-based resist is OK.

United States Postal Service package service. Packages weighing less than 13 oz. will ship via First Class Mail, while heavier packages are designated Priority Mail. They are the same service, receive the same treatment by the USPS.

A combination service offered by United Parcel Service and the USPS. UPS will pick up the package from Dharma, carry it all the way to your local post office which will make the final delivery. Please note: as these packages are finally delivered by your local mail carrier, customers MUST provide an address that receives mail delivery! (for example a PO Box) The Post Office will not automatically hold the package for you if they do not deliver to your address, it will simply be returned to Dharma.
This service is currently only offered on packages 9 lbs. and under.
