These are a medium weight silk with a great drape and flow. Silky with an extremely smooth shiny top surface, this is what many people think of when they think "silk". Nice when you want something more luxurious and less sheer, but still economical. The lustrous satin surface is wonderful for painting! These have hand rolled hems with 100% silk thread. Ready to dye and paint!
We recommend, especially if you are re-selling, to pre-wash in Hot water and Dharma Dyer's Detergent, all silk before dyeing or painting to remove any leftover residue from the silk worms (Seracin) or finger prints and other stuff that can cause the fabric to dye unevenly.

I bought 3 silk scarves to ice-dye a couple of years ago and finally got to dye them this summer. WOW! Just gorgeous! I will be buying more. And silk really does take the Procion (spelling?) dye quite differently than cotton or rayon.

Sooooo soft! A dream to dye these beautiful scarves are in between the charmeuse and habotai I was able to use the gutta resist on these. My customers love them.
