Resists
A resist is a substance that halts the spreading of dye or paint as an outline, or preserves the original color of the fabric in a shape or design. There are 4 different categories of resists, each with it's own benefits depending on the type of project you are working on:
  • Water Based Resist
  • Solvent Based Gutta
  • No-Flow Primers, Surface Design Dextrins
  • Waxes
Water Based Resists
Water Based Resists
These gutta-like resists wash out with warm water. No dry cleaning is necessary! No fumes either!
Solvent Based Guttas
Solvent Based Guttas
The real deal, solvent based Guttas made from Gutta Percha (or other natural rubber)
No-Flow Primers (Anti-Diffusants), Surface Design Dextrins
No-Flow Primers (Anti-Diffusants), Surface Design Dextrins
Painted onto silk before the dyes/paints to keep the dyes/paints from spreading. Allows for freehand painting without resists or guttas. The Dextrins create interesting surface designs when used in combination with dyes.
