Dear Dharma Trading,

My name is Karen DeLong, and I am a self-taught silk artist. I learned the art a year ago to give scarves as Christmas gifts, and I became instantly enthralled! I love the way the dyes react on the fabric, flowing and mixing to create new hues. I use the Jacquard Silk Colors (green Label) and like to experiment with different salts. Using the mist sprayers has helped me create some great marbled effects, and I am beginning to incorporate coloring the Jacquard Clear Waterbased Resist for different line drawings.

Being an environmentalist at heart, most of the inspirations for my designs come from the patterns and colors I find in nature. To see more of my designs please visit delongdesigns.net
