Melanie Testa

Melanie Testa is an accomplished textile and quilt artist. She attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in Textile/Surface Design. She exhibits her fiber art at various galleries and quilt shows around the country. She is the author of Inspired To Quilt, Creative Experiments in Art Quilt Imagery by Interweave Press. Her articles have appeared in Quilting Arts Magazine and the Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA) Journal.

Melanie enjoys depicting plants, animals and humans in the quilt art medium. She uses Procion MX dyes and paints and prints her images in two layers, cotton broadcloth and silk organza. These whole cloth quilt tops are also collaged and densely quilted, creating richly layered wall art. Sodium alginate, freezer paper, monoprinting, stamping and direct dye painting are just a few of the techniques that go into making her art.
