We have been using American Apparel Youth Fine Jersey Short Sleeve tees for the past several years but we grew past the largest available size and needed to move up. Comparing measurements on this site was a bit challenging since they don't represent the same things--child's height vs shirt length child's chest vs shirt width. I did the math and went for the comparable width calculating that the next size after American Apparel 12 would be LAT small. Alas this shirt runs small and the other runs large. Our measurements after washing this shirt in size small are 15" across (just under the arm) and 20" long (where the collar and shoulder meet to the bottom). If you are moving up from the American Apparel Youth Fine Jersey tee (AA-2201) in size 12 then you need to go to at least a medium in this shirt. The two shirts are similar in weight softness and construction. This one has just a bit more fabric in the hem which after the first wash seems to hold its shape better than the AA version. I will need to edit this review once we have dyed our tees but I'm not expecting any surprises.
