My name is Rachel Takas, creator and owner of LadyTakas. I sell hand-made, hand-dyed goods such as pillows, hair accessories, overdyed upcycled clothing, and hand embroidered hoop art. I use a combination of fiber reactive dyes and eco-printing to create one of a kind patterned textiles. I am inspired by nature mostly and love the unique beauty of dye patterns. I studied textile design in college and completely fell in love with it.
I've been using Dharma Trading Co dyes since college and have never strayed. The Fiber Reactive dyes are my favorite to use because they always give the most vibrant colors that last. Dharma's Soda Ash is a great activator as well.
Recently, I've been exploring different products such as the SolarFast dyes and will continue to explore those! My Favorite new product of Dharma is their Dyer's Detergent, which I use in my first wash of all dyed and eco-printed fabrics. I like it better than the synthropol. It works great in getting out the loose pigments without bleeding onto the rest of the fabric.

I started LadyTakas because I believe we need more hand crafted things in this world. I feel that we need to step back from mass produced/manufactured things and remember what it's like to connect with and appreciate the items we surround ourselves with. I hope that my company can spark joy for people whether it's with the hand-dyed pillows on their sofa, or the perfect scrunchie!
