Actually got a couple elsewhere before dharma had them but these are awesome. I had been using a piece of PVC pipe which was strong enough but a pain to wind with these you just make a couple of wraps to hold the sinew chuck the metal piece into a drill put the sinew roll on a dowel (a finger works too if you go slower) and run the drill until it's full. The metal rod unscrews so it won't get in the way while tying. Probably works well for thinner unwaxed strong threads like flax linen or kevlar too if you tape an end to it
