Artist Bio / Statement
I thought your sound products and unsurpassed customer service were enough, and you now celebrate the people who buy from you by offering to feature their work. I thank you.
I can't type and I won't iron so what's left for a woman to do? In my case, I play with cloth. I'm fascinated with the serendipitous nature of dyeing fabric, the configurations that develop, and the many colors that appear. The cloth talks to me, and with the use of different media, many images appear. I haven't settled on any specific style yet, but I'm close. I attached several photos of the outcomes that I have created.
While I've had some success with my cloth, I haven't quit my day job as a mediator/arbitrator for the State of Minnesota. My job has transplanted me to Duluth, Minnesota, which is a beautiful and friendly small town of 80,000. While this area strongly supports its artists, textiles have not yet been recognized as an important art form. However, I have connected with Jane Dunnewold who has critiqued my work and prodded me on for the last two years.
My training has been informal, and any growth I may have had is due to people like Jane Dunnewold, Yoshiko Wada, Pauline Burbridge, Anna Lisa Hedstrom, and others who give their time to the wanna be's out there.
It was a pleasant surprise to hear from you and thanks again.
