Artist Bio / Statement
This is my short biography:
I started making quilts when my children were small in order to keep from going insane. I was trapped at home with a three-year-old and a one-year-old for about a decade (It seemed that way at the time). Now I just have a three-year-old, and the first two are eleven and nine, but I still make quilts. For years, they made great gifts if someone was getting married or having a pup. Last year, my husband had me get business cards made. Business cards do not make a business, but it's a start. I began using fabric dyes about four catalogues ago. I got a copy of Hand-Dyed Fabric Made Easy, by Buffington. She lists your company as a source. That's how I got connected to Dharma.
To keep my art alive and growing, I have to try something new out each year. Dyeing my own fabric opened up a new world of quilting to me. Since I learned how to use the dyes, I've learned how to make celtic knot quilts, which look great on dyed fabrics. This year, I'm beginning to paint the fabric with dye to get different effects. Most of the quilts I make now have some hand-dyed fabrics in them. The best quilt project I've ever worked on using your dyes is always the next one that's still in the planning stage.
