Featured Artist : Jan Longmire

I costume figure skaters such as Sasha Cohen, a U.S. National champion and 2006 Olympic silver medalist, among many other skaters. My studio is in Huntington Beach, California. I use Dharma supplies exclusively for all my silk and lycra coloring needs. My methods of fabric treatment range from vat dyeing (which I do with all work since I only produce costumes using custom dyed materials), airbrush, silk painting, and ombre shading.

The techniques of matching silk georgette, which is my skirt fabric, to lycra and nylon mesh, which comprise the body of the costume, are always an adventure because the goods rarely take an identical color from the same color recipe. I use all the acid colors in your chart, and then "flavor" them with either yellow, turquoise, or fuschia to get my results.
