Laura C. Hewitt

Laura C. Hewitt has lived in Interior, Alaska since 1985. She earned an MFA in Interdisciplinary Studies from Vermont College and a BFA in Drawing from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. She has taught metalsmithing and drawing at the University of Alaska Fairbanks since 1999. Her work has shown in over 200 national and international exhibitions. She exhibited at the Edward Hopper House Art Center in Nyack, NY in November 2004. Her work can be seen at GalleryThe.org in Brooklyn, NY through January 17, 2005. On January 12, 2005, her computer prints on silk will be exhibiting at the Fading Ad Gallery in Brooklyn, NY through February 14.

For these exhibitions, I used 8mm Habotai silk on 42" x 50' rolls. Dharma Trading Company was the only online service who would ship this item to rural Alaska for a reasonable rate and in a reasonable time frame. I ran them through a wide format inkjet printer then touched them up with watercolor. Currently, I am using the Dharma Trading Company website to build my own steamer.
