I can't remember a time when drawing, painting, and making things haven't been the reasons for waking up every day! I have an extensive background in drawing, painting, and ceramics, but lately my focus has been on decorating silk to wear. Another one of my favorite pastimes is reading the Dharma Catalog! I have been teaching art since 1974 and currently teach high school crafts where I enjoy encouraging young artists to express their creativity in functional artwork. I am thrilled that a former student of mine, Jessie Fair, is a Dharma Featured Artist! Some of the dyes I love working with are Dharma's Fiber Reactive Procion Dyes, acid dyes, Tinfix dyes and Alter Ego dyes. I just love using Lumiere metallic paints to accent my work, and I really appreciate the enormous amount of dyeable fabrics, scarves, and clothing that Dharma offers. At school, we are fond of Jacquard and Versatex textile colors for painting on fabric and marbling. They are so easy to use with a large group! We use Procion dyes for batik and shibori. We also purchase all of our fabric and scarves from Dharma. All of the students enjoy reading the catalog as well! We often leave the website up on the classroom computer for inspiration and information.Thank you for everything!
