My Best Friend Tie Dyes

Once upon a time in the 1990s, I had a white baby tee that I loved. Then I dropped a meatball on it. The stain never came out, so I bought a tie dye kit and dyed the shirt so I could wear it again. That gave me an idea! What if I reclaimed other clothes by dyeing them and kept them from going to landfills??

As my dye artistry improved, I began giving tie-dye to my friends. When people would ask my bestie, "Where did you GET that??" she would reply, "My best friend tie-dyes."

I was overjoyed to discover Dharma's large quantities of tie-dye supplies. I use Dharma's fiber reactive dyes, sodium carbonate, sodium alginate, rubber bands, and flat sinew at home, as well as on retreats each summer, where I teach tie-dye to hundreds of Unitarian Universalists!  Find me on Facebook under Alyssa Rockstar and My Best Friend Tie-Dyes.
