Beth Engelbrecht-Wiggans

My name is Beth Engelbrecht-Wiggans, I am a fiber artist in Central Illinois. I spin, dye, knit and weave in addition to other crafts. I love to play with color and use Dharma dyes and chemicals do to my dyeing. I like to explore the movement of color. In my towels, I dye the cotton warp such that the colors blend from one to another; every towel is different from the next. The weave pattern can also accentuate the color effect. The dyeing process is fun, such lovely colors!
I have been playing with fractal spinning and use Dharma acid dyes to dye my rovings. By plying long color repeats against shorter ones, I get a barber poll effect that makes the colors so much more interesting and deep.
Every year or so I do some natural dyes, and use Dharma chemicals and natural dyes that I can not collect myself.
