After a stressful corporate career in Human Resources, In 1998 wanting to spend my time with my family and less time in corporate America, I decided to try my hand at a more creative endeavor. Wanting to do something happy , yet earthfriendly I decided to develop a line of baby clothing using recycled fabrics.
Vintage Tablecloths, bedspreads and tea towels were repurposed into one of a kind baby dresses that I sold at the Pike Place Market in Seattle and US boutiques. Taught to knit and sew at a young age by my mother , I designed patterns, cut fabrics and picked buttons and trims to make each dress unique. In 2005 I decided to transition from children's wear to focus on Women's wear. The same concept applied, all from recycled materials. Tablecloths became luxe bias cut patchwork skirts, 40's rayon fabrics became bias cut dresses, and vintage barkcloth became women's jackets and bags, continuing to sell my designs at Pike Place Market and at large art and craft fairs around the Us.
In 2007 , I began focusing on exclusively on my current cashmere line which is hand cut , hand dyed and sewn from recycled cashmere sweaters into new sweaters, hats, gloves and scarves. The items are all one of a kind, hand crafted with zero wasted in Seattle.
My current work has developed in to the hand dyed cashmere line which is cut and sewn from recycled cashmere sweaters, as well as a new endeavor this year into creating dresses and active wear from hand dyed organic fabrics. I design all patterns. Many are draped on dress form. Everything is produced in my Seattle studio. I continue to progress in my craft by attending design and art classes .
My work is sold daily at my Pike Place Market retail space in Seattle, online, at select boutiques in the US and Canada and I continue to show at Art fairs in the US and Canada
My favorite Dharma items I use to create with are : Dharma acid dyes in silver grey, electric violet, intense iris and black.
