Caroline Spooner

Born in England, I moved to California three years ago. I finally decided to use this opportunity to make a complete career change and take the plunge to sell my art full-time, as well as to return to teaching silk art, which I had done for small groups in the UK. Once I discovered Dharma Trading, I was thrilled - nowhere in England has such an extensive "one stop" website. I would never again need to spend hours buying small amounts from 10 different places; everything I need is here!

My obsession with anything that involves drawing, painting, colors, fabric, and creating started when I was a child, and the desire to try different styles and techniques never goes away. Once I discovered silk painting, I was hooked. I am a silk addict and proud of it!

Having spent many years making and designing silk art for friends, much of my work over the last few years has been commission-based, one-of-a-kind silk scarves and ties, working to the clients' remits, from whacky computer circuit boards to clothing for the crew of a Yacht Charter boat in the South of France!

Working from my studio in the mountains overlooking Gilroy, I draw my inspiration not only from the nature surrounding me, but also from the impressionist artists of the past. My designs, coupled with an at time's "eccentric" twist, ensure that my art is truly unique.
