The Albuquerque Silk Painters Guild is a group of silkpainters who gather to discuss their work, the products that they use, and to talk technique and innovation. We are a non-competitive group. We sponsor workshops annually and gather the best in the field to come give week-long workshops and teachings.
This year, we entered a show and decided to do an educational booth that would teach silk painting to others and expand the knowledge of silk painting as a fine art. We also wanted to" give back" a bit of our art.
We decided that we would teach people to paint silk scarves and would donate them to The American Cancer Society's program called "Look Good, Feel Better." This is a program that supports women who have had cancer. We decided that the scarves could be used as a beautiful turban wrap to cover the effects of chemotherapy radiation and its resulting hair loss. The project was well received! Many women with cancer participated in the silk painting, or commended the idea and its beauty. We hope that with the publication of this work on the Dharma website, that many other groups will take up this idea in their communities and will continue the work where we left off.

We thought it would be a neat idea to showcase the work of artists and businesses who are using Dharma products, so we've been asking customers to send in photos and info so we can share it with you. If you use our products and would like to be included.
