My work with silk painting started 10 or more years ago. I work in many types of media and enjoy driving them past their limits into new territories. I found that you can't make a mistake with silk painting. The silk and dyes decide what they want to do and you just learn to love what happens and enjoy the unknown. I've been teaching adults and children and have found that knowing that they can't make a mistake has made them relax and experiment.
The Dharma dyes and silk have been of great quality, reliable, and very predictable in their results. This is very important when you are teaching children, they need some consistency when they are just beginning.
The Kiwi Club is a charitable organization made up of former American Airlines stewardesses and flight attendants. (Yes, flightless birds, no pun intended!} When they saw the silk they immediately decided that it provided both a way to get the members involved in a fun activity and have an item that they could make and sell to support their charities. We've been very successful, both in Atlanta and nationally, selling them, especially at our conventions. We've also donated to the Columbus Zoo for them to sell to raise money to support conservation efforts for the Kiwi bird.
