I am a self-taught Batik artist. I was hooked when I saw a short video by Muffy Clark-Gill of Funky Flamingo Studio - it looked like so much fun that I just had to try it. I got some books and some supplies, and here I am! It's a process that can be painstaking, or spontaneous, with sometimes surprising and unpredictable outcomes. I have been doing Batik on squares of cotton muslin and framing them as fine art, mostly birds and animals which are my favorites. I've given demos to local art groups too because the process and the results are so fascinating.
Recently, by popular demand, I have expanded to clothing, which I get from Dharma Trading Co. I also use some of their dyes and supplies. I have the Tee Juice markers, which are fun and I plan to get into some silk work soon. It really is fun!
