Christine Davis

Christine Davis is a native German. Beginning in 1992, she studied her technique while living in Germany. All of her art is done on silk, using Sennelier Tinfix Design - French silk dye, in a number of ways: Serti, watercolor, salt and alcohol techniques, as well as tie-dye on silk. One of her favorite items from Dharma is the Marabu Silk outliner. Each piece is dyed by hand, creating unique and beautiful results. Natural images, realistic landscapes, and abstract patterns are the primary subjects of the artist's designs. She also enjoys creating designs for fraternities and sororities.
In addition to her dyed paintings and wall/window hangings (using Habotai 8 mm silk stretched and glued on coated metal wire circles or squares from Dharma), Christine also creates richly colored fabric, which she transforms into wearable art: scarves, ties, and broaches! Her scarves are mostly done on Habotai 8mm, ties are 10mm Habotai silk. Most recently, she has been experimenting transferring her silk paintings onto canvas.
Her work has been on display in several different local events, i.e. Art & Soul, Ebony Black Family Reunion tour, a number of Not Just Shopping events, and more. She has clients throughout the U.S., as well as internationally. Christine has been commissioned for custom designs by several organizations. Her talents have been donated to Charlotte-Mecklenburg School, United Family Services, as well as Cancer research benefiting Silent Auctions on several occasions, and she has been a finalist as an emerging artist. Christine is a member of the Charlotte Art League and Afro American Culture Center.
