Claude Larson

Claude Larson is a fiber, acrylic and mixed media artist, who has been working with and producing her own textiles and papers using paint, dye and various forms of surface design since 2001. She is primarily self-taught and enjoys experimentation, creating each piece one decision at a time so that each choice informs the next artistic decision. Her work is primarily abstract and non-representational. Her love of vibrant colors and varied textures are evident in her work. Claude's artwork is inspired by the seasons and cycles of nature, as well as elements from daily life. Beginning with a single textile or element she works intuitively and randomly. Her pieces have a deliberate, quiet complexity, that encourages the viewer to lean in and see the details and then stand back to see the big picture.
Her favorite Dharma Trading Company products are Procion Dyes and dyeables from scarves to dresses. She uses low water immersion dyeing as well as snow dyeing to produce many of the textiles that she incorporates into her work. You can view her work at ClaudeLarsonArt.com, The ARTery Gallery in Milford, PA and on Instagram @claudeblarson. Claude started her journey with a home sewing machine and a desire to make things. Her tiny space allowed her to create and over time has grown into what it is now. She worked in her spare time, along with a full-time job and raising a family. Those stolen moments fueled her creativity and fed her desire to explore. She encourages you to do the same because the joy of the journey is that you can't predict the destination.
