D Dinsmore

I am Tropical Artist D.Dinsmore and I create hand painted silk art to frame, as well as hand painted silk art to wear. I learned when I was young from the Set Design and Wardrobe of the Jackie Gleason Show, due to my father and brother, who were both Miami stagehands. Any movie, musical, theater show, TV show (like Miami Vice), or commercial that was filmed in Miami seemed to have my whole family backstage in set design, props, wardrobe, grips, painting, creating food art, props, lighting, and more painting. This was and is still very influential on my art as of today. You can take the lady out of Miami, but you can't take the Miami out of the lady. So I tend to paint very colorful silk art that brings the influence of the set designs from theaters and art deco into your home for your decorating pleasure. I love to use Dharma's stretcher frames for my Habotai 8mm, 45" wide or Crepe de Chine 16mm 33 wide or Chiffon. Jacquard paints and dyes are my absolute favorite right now. I use Dy-na-Flow, Lumiere, Resist, Neopaque, and textile paints to enhance the textures and depths of the designs for your walls, or for my wearable art. These paints and dyes work great as destinations of art, and they are so easy to work with that you want to wake up and paint art!
