Debs Kislingbury-Boivie

My name is Debs Kislingbury-Boivie. I have been a tie dye artist and loyal customer of Dharma since 1975. I use only Dharma's fiber reactive procion dyes. I like to use mostly the primary colours as I love the way they wick into the fabric to make secondary colours and random patterns. Lemon Yellow, Fuschia, and Turquoise therefor are my favorites, adding other colours such as midnight blue, black, imperial purple, truffle brown, and others as accents. Black, as a contrast, really makes the colours pop!
I make a lot of tee shirts, but love dying anything of a natural fiber. I am fascinated by the way different fabric materials take the dyes differently, and enjoy using sodium alginate to thicken dyes for painting on specific details.
I have gone through stages where I only produce my art as gifts for family members, and swing back to kicking out 50 pieces at a time for our small town's festivals.
I live in Paradise, California now, raised my two boys in Santa Rosa, but I grew up in Sunnyvale, CA, graduating from Homestead High School in 1972 with the infamous Steve Jobs.
I would have to say that Nature herself inspires me...I see tie dye everywhere I look in Nature! Leaves, flowers, fire, water, trees, clouds and sky, just point it out and I see the tie dye in it! "
