Dr. Livingston's has been making quality tie-dye for 20 years. It is established, owned, and operated by Josh Livingston. We pride ourselves in our attention to detail and sourcing quality 100% cotton clothing.

Josh started off in a tiny bathroom in Seattle, concocting his wearable color combinations mostly by trial and error (isn't that how everything happens?!). Jerry's guitar would always lure him on tour in pied piper fashion where a true appeciation and critical eye for the craft of tie-dye converged. An impromptu convention, if you will, of some of the best tie-dye artisans and a wonderful exploring/learning ground for styles and colors.

Eventually touring tapered off, and a wholesale style of business emerged, spending time on different markets. Socks have been a fun avenue, and combining silk screened prints with dyed designs can definitely make an impact. The Doctor carries a variety of brilliant clothes for all sizes of humans or aliens (from newborn to 3XL grandpa). We search out and use only quality cottons so our items are sure to have a long happy vibrant life; Dharma Trading Co. has been a great source for that.

We have had the pleasure of working with anyone from the smallest of Mom and Pop retailers to companies as large as R.E.I., Nordstrom, and Boston Sox, creating official hand dyed designs for the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. We also can be found at various music festivals and Arts & Crafts Festivals in the Pacific Northwest. Josh continues to this day solely making his living in the wonderful world of color on fabric. The passion still continues, and Dharma Trading has been a huge help with that process, Thanks Dharma!
